West Cork was the place to be last Saturday. Damian Collins, Pat Ryan and Paul MccMahon completed the Ring Of Beara cycle. The cycle is based in Kenmare. Participants pass through some of Ireland’s most picturesque and quaint towns including Ardgroom, Eyeries, Allihies, Castletownbere, Adrigole, Glengarriff and back to Kenmare town. Meanwhile in Bantry, Kevin Fennessy put in a super performance to take third place in the Hardman half ironman triathlon. This was a super performance by Kevin who is seeing the results of his training. The result will also give Kevin great confidence heading into Ironman Cork on the 23rd June.

Last Wednesday night saw a big group congregate for the mid week spin. The route headed to Glenville and Carrignavar, before turning at Dublin Pike and returning through Templemichael. The last few kilometers saw a number of attacks put in as the pace ramped up for a blistering finish.
The Saturday spin headed for east Cork taking in Ballycotton, before a welcome break at the Village Greengrocer in Castlemartyr. From there, it was on to Mogeely, and the climb to Dungourney. The peleton rolled on through Tallow and on to Ballyduff, before turning for home. The Sunday spin headed for Bartlemy and on to Lisgoold and Midleton. There was a stop at Cobh Cross, where the beginner's group also took a rest. The beginners group completed a 30km loop in beautiful conditions. There will be a beginners cycle on Sunday morning for the next few weeks. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to take up cycling.
