The Saturday spin commenced at Cobh Cross. The 90km route headed for Youghal and on to Tallow where the peloton stopped for coffee. The return route took in Dungourney and Midleton. The unseasonal good weather made for very enjoyable pedaling. On Saturday afternoon, Donal Scannell, Ellen Carroll, Nigel Carroll, Brian Atkinson, and Peter Power visited Cork Penny Diners to present the funds raised from the recent spinathon event. The monies raised were greatly appreciated by the staff of Penny Diners, and will help to provide services to those in need. Sunday saw large numbers assemble in the village. The group was divided in two for a very enjoyable 50km cycle.
This week sees the return of turbo training. The sessions will take place in the First Fruits Arts Centre in Watergrasshill on Thursday evenings, commencing at 7.30pm. Turbo trainers are quite simply a device that enables you to ride your bike, stationary, indoors. Turbo training allows cyclists to get some miles in the legs in a safe environment during dark winter nights.
