This week was seen a big exodus from the club to Mallorca for some warm weather cycling. Tom O'Sullivan and Stephen O'Connell were the first to depart for the sunny island as an advance party. They were met there by Donncha Cuttriss who traveled direct from his home in the Netherlands. The remained of the party left on Monday for what promises to be a great weeks cycling. The club TT continued last Wednesday night, with an extended 30km course. Jimmy Condon was the fastest on the night with a time of 49:46. Ellmary Forde was the fastest lady with a time of 1:09. Alec Smith put in an eye catching season best, stopping the clock n just a shade over an hour.
The Saturday spin headed for Midleton and on to Killeagh. From there, the route headed cross country to Tallow. There was a stop in Tallow to recharge the batteries, before the return leg to the village. The Sunday spin headed for Carrigtwohill, and returned via Glanmire, completing a very enjoyable 38km. Sunday morning saw a large group leave the village. Also on Sunday, Sure Crowley and Ellmary Forde headed to Minane Bridge for the Tour de South Coast sportive. The ladies completed the 100km cycle in a very quick time.
Following Donal Scannell's impressive singing on the recent club trip to Bantry, he has decided to let the cycling take a back seat and go touring for the summer. Donal is available for musical entertainment at weddings, carnivals, and festivals. Early bookings are advised, as demand is through the roof. All enquiries for bookings and media appearances should be directed to Donal's manager, Jim Hennessy at Hennessy Cycles, Lower Patrick Street, Fermoy.
