It was an early start last Saturday as six hardy bucks hit the road at 5.15am headed for Kenmare. Barry Looney, Brian Atkinson, Dermot Brosnan, Donal Scannell,Jeremy Duane, and, Peter Power pedaled to Kenmare where they met up with a big group from the club to cycle the ring of Kerry. Weather conditions were ideal for one of the most iconic cycle routes in the country. The group splint into three, and departed Kenmare for Molls Gap. With the climb tamed, there was a fast descent into Killarney. From there, it was on to Killorglin, with a short stop in in Glenbeigh for water. The road to Cahirciveen was covered in quick time. There was a stop for lunch in Cahirciveen. Fully fueled, the peloton headed on for Waterville and then tackled the climb to Coomakista. There was a short rest to take in the view, before the rapid descent to Derrynane. There was a final stop in Sneem to refuel for the last Leg of the cycle back to Kenmare. The ladies were out in force with Cathy O'Sullivan, Claire Carroll, Joanne Mc Hugh, and Margaret O'Connor enjoying the cycle immensely. A big shout out to Alec Smith also who completed his first 100 mile cycle.
