Members are clocking up the kilometers in preparation for the upcoming Rebel Tour which takes place on the 9th September 2017. The training will stand to cyclists who are looking forward to tackling the notoriously tough terrain. Last Saturdays cycle provided to be very enjoyable for the large group that took to the road. The group headed east taking a scenic route through Clashmore and Villierstown returning through Tallow and Conna with a total of 130kms completed. The Sunday morning group also hit the roads of east Cork completing a fast 55km.
Club members Alan Heffernan, Stephen O'Connell, and, Dermot Brosnan tackled the West Cork Peaks Challenge on Saturday. This sportive is generally regarded as being one of the toughest. The 160km route with 2,400 metres of climbing took in the Borlin Valley, the Mealagh Valley and the iconic Priests leap.
Congratulations to Donncha Cuttriss who was inducted into the Race Around Ireland Hall Of Fame. Best of luck to Pat O'Callaghan and Colin O'Brien who are crewing on this years Race Around Ireland.
The club's end of season trip is planned for the 14th October 2017 in Dungarvan. If last year is anything to go by, the weekend should be great craic.
New members are always welcome. Club spins leave Watergrasshill Village at 9 am on Sunday mornings, and 7pm on Wednesday evenings. All that is needed is a road bike and helmet.
