The Wednesday evening cycle was short but quick last week. The club was delighted to welcome Ben, a French cyclist who was holidaying in the area. The bank holiday weekend saw members hit the road in large numbers. Donal, Mike, Alec and Brian headed for a spin around East Cork on Saturday morning. Peter Power followed in hot pursuit. The pedalling was rewarded when the lads stopped for coffee at the Greengrocer in Castlemartyr. From there, the lads tackled the climb to Dungourney and on to Ardglass. The descent to O'Leary's Cross was welcome respite before the final push to the village.
There was a big group left the village on Sunday morning and headed for Leamlara, where they turned and headed for Lisgoold. From there it was on to Midleton and Cobh Cross via Ballintubbber. There was a coffee stop in Cobh Cross, where the crack was ninety. After much banter, the group headed back for the village via Carrigtwohill and Leamlara. Everyone got back safe and dry before the heavens opened.
