All club events and gatherings have been cancelled for the foreseeable future due to the Covid 19 virus. This has had a big impact on some members. Donal, Jeremy, Eric, Mike H and Mike C had all signed up for the Mallorca 312 sportive.
The Mallorca 312 is one of the toughest endurance events in the sportive calendar. Originally conceived as a lap around the island of Mallorca, the long course takes in 312 kilometres of riding with over 5,000m of climbing. This years edition was slated for the 25th April. The cancellation of the event has been very disappointing for the lads, having trained so hard during the winter months. The event is due to be rescheduled for October, fingers crossed.

One event which is keeping members motivated is the summer tour which this year is a 4 day trip to Kingscourt in Co. Cavan. The destination was chosen to celebrate our dear friend Simon Martin, who we lost last year. The first day will see the group depart Watergrasshill and head for Tullamore in Co. Offaly, a distance of 177km. After a long day in the saddle to start, the second leg from Tullamore to Kingscourt will be a more manageable 104km. The third day will be another epic cycle, departing Kingscourt, and arriving in Kilkenny City 182kms later. The final leg from Kilkenny to Watergrasshill will see the cyclists complete 130km.
The recent improvement in weather is allowing members to get out on the road solo. We are very lucky to be able to pursue our hobby. Not everyone is as lucky in these unprecedented times. Hopefully we can stay pedaling and keep healthy.
