The inaugural Hillfest Duathlon took place on Saturday 3rd June. A big entry was blessed with good weather. The event commenced with a 3km run out the Glenville Road. Athletes then transitioned to the bike for the cycle leg to Killydonoghue Roundabout and returning to Watergrasshill Village. The final leg was a 5km run, out and back on the Knockraha Road. The event attracted some top athletes as well as those who simply wanted to complete. Athletes were provided with refreshments on completion. The club was well represented by Alan Heffernan, Clodagh Manning Finn, Joanne McHugh, Niamh Fleming, Pat McHugh, Tim Kearney, and, Trevor Healy. A big thank you to our friends in Watergrasshill AC who co hosted the event and helped to make it a huge success.
Further afield, club member Donncha Cuttriss continues his globetrotting. The Trans Am Bike Racecommenced on June 3rd witrhself supported road racers on a 4300 mile journey across the United States at break neck speed. At the time of writing, Donncha was in 2nd position having completed
Wednesday evening spins are continuing at 7.00pm from Watergrasshill Village, all welcome. Weekend spins leave the village at 8am on Saturday mornings and 9m on Saturday mornings. new members of all abilities are always welcome. New members must be over 18 and must wear a helmet. The Sunday spin last weekend was attended by a small but select group. A big thank you to Bernard Burke for ensuring Donal Scannell's safe return to the village.It is comforting to know we have such experienced and dedicated cyclists in the club who are always willing to help others.
