Over The Hill Cycling Club was established in Cork in 2011 by a group of like minded people sharing a passion for the two wheeled pursuit of cycling. As the name would suggest, we’re not aiming to compete in the Rás just yet and for the OTH crew, social trumps competition. Some of the original club members come from a GAA background and while the fitness for the field may not translate immediately to the bike, “Time In The Saddle” will soon see that problem sorted…!
We are affiliated to Cycling Ireland which brings the benefits of reduced entry to events as well as third party liability and additional personal insurance.
There are regular rides both midweek and at the weekends, so finding a time that suits to get out on the road should be easy. Feel free to try us on for size, training rides depart from opposite the National School* in Watergrasshill village at 19:00 on Wednesday evenings and at 09:00 on Sunday mornings, covering anything from 60k to 160km depending on the prevailing conditions on the day. The longer cycles generally occur on Saturdays. If you are interested in seeing if the club is a good fit for you please use the Contact Form on this website to get in touch.
The Club currently has approximately 80 members, with a significant number of women members; some members race, the majority are Leisure or Sportive focused. The club organises a variety of events during the course of the year to give members ongoing incentives for training. A Juvenile section was formed in 2017 for children of club members.
Custom club cycling apparel is also available for purchase by club members and worn with pride to represent the club on training rides, tours and charity sportives in which we take part.
